Financial freedom and why achieving it is important and worth the efforts
Life for many begins as a guided tour of sorts and remains so unless one gives a more deliberate thought to it and makes efforts to make it an enjoyable journey. I feel I have somewhat succeeded in this effort and hence would like to share it with as many as possible in the hope that they can be helped in this effort.
Well, then the question is how to make it an enjoyable journey? While it is a fact that many of us land up in jobs which we are not really passionate about or simply put, every job becomes monotonous when done routinely. You cant leave the job as you are far too dependent on it. The way out is to create options in terms of choices, be it by further education or by starting a side business or by saving and investing your savings in a manner that your money starts working for you. Thus you get the freedom to do what you are passionate about.
Is financial freedom only a matter of having enough money to enable you to sit back and relax or do what you like without any worry of what it earns for you? There is more to it than that. Are you mentally prepared, ready and disciplined to achieve and sustain this freedom and enjoy it?
Let me deviate for a while and mention here the Hindu Goddesses of Knowledge and Wealth, Laxmi and Saraswati. Laxmi is standing on a slippery platform of lotus leaf but Saraswati has the solid rock as her platform. What does this signify? While the knowledge once gained is likely to stay with you for long, wealth and money however, is slippery and stays with you only if you remain worthy and deserving of it. Both the aspects of using the right means to acquire and having the capacity and worth to keep and sustain it are essential to wealth and money. If not, the happiness and satisfaction derived from money will only be short lived and not sustainable to assure you a long life of freedom, happiness and satisfaction.
What does this require us to do? We first need to define our purpose and goals in life. Be disciplined in our savings and then aspire to get financial freedom to help us to do what we feel most passionate about and what gives us most satisfaction and happiness in life. A lot of patience and faith is required which may be tested many times over the years as you get along in life. What I can assure you, is that the end result or the fruit of all the efforts makes it worth all the toil.
Financial Freedom as a goal in life, is achievable and worthy of being a life goal. Go ahead and aim to acquire it.
